Mosko Moto Goes Epic

We, at Epic Minutes, are always looking for better ways to improve our performance and become more efficient. Quite often, the gear used in the field will affect the overall project outcome.

As experienced filmmakers, we want to capture the best images without having to think twice about the safety of our sensitive camera equipment. For that reason, Epic Minutes has partnered up with MOSKO MOTO from the United States. The Washington State based company produces top quality soft motorcycle luggage systems especially designed for adventure riding, hardcore enduro, and nomadic motorbike lifestyle.

Now, they are the perfect luggage system for Epic Minutes during our international film productions! All of our equipment is stored safely and kept dry due to the well designed construction and heavy-duty materials of the luggage.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Mosko Moto for providing us with the luggage necessary for our two man crew, to equip our two motorcycles, for a two week trip in Portugal, from Nazaré to the Algarve region, while on a video production and scouting mission.

Backcountry 35L Panniers

Let us begin with the Backcountry 35L Panniers which were easily mounted on the already existing Touratech luggage racks of our KTM 1090 R. The panniers’s quick-mount dovetail system makes mounting and removing the luggage from the motorcycle a quick task.

They are a perfect piece of equipment for our production crew by providing us with adequate space to store all of our equipment, including:

  • two cameras

  • four lenses

  • a gimbal

  • a drone

  • a computer

  • batteries

  • chargers

  • power banks

The ability to access our gear quickly is extremely important to a film crew and the top loading access into the Backcountry 35L makes launching our drone and changing camera lenses an easy process.

The Backcountry 35L panniers are completely waterproof and its durable exterior provides plenty of abrasion protection against all types of falls, while the camera cases inside the soft luggage provide the proper shock protection for the equipment.

Its roll-up design along with three straps, cinches everything tightly keeping it not only watertight but it also keeps our sensitive production equipment from bouncing freely in the interior of the pannier. The Backcountry panniers have many cool features but the beavertail proved itself to be quite useful by providing a quick access, storage option for anything from a tripod to a bottle of water.

  Backcountry 30L Duffle/Pack

The Backcountry 30L Duffle/Pack was another product supplied by Mosko Moto. This duffle is also made of the same bomb-proof materials as the panniers and also has an external quick-stash spot to store extra layers, monopods, or tent poles for example.

The  Duffle/Pack is made to be strapped across the passenger seat or over the back rack of the motorbike with straps which are also a Mosko Moto product. Two straps are all it takes to secure and remove this Duffle/Pack to the bike. This great duffle has two openings one on each end of the bag allowing access to its contents while the Duffle/Pack is secured to the vehicle.

This is where our KTM 1090 R team member stored personal items such as:

  • clothing & shoes

  • toiletries

  • a second computer

  • shovel

  • tent

  • sleeping bag

When our team reached their overnight location the Duffle/Pack was converted into a backpack freeing up their hands and allowing them to carry the remainder of their luggage.

Hood Tank Bag

A Hood Tank Bag was another product we had the pleasure of testing. It was designed to fit most motorbikes so the mounting process was simple and it fit our KTM 1090 R like a glove.

This is the only waterproof, quick-access tank bag on the market. One snap is all it takes to get into this bag making it extremely valuable when time is of the essence. The Hood is surprisingly spacious and in it was stored:

  • a camera

  • SD cards

  • charging cables

  • batteries.

Having the ability to keep a Sony A7 III camera in the tank bag at all times was amazing. Knowing that it was completely protected from the elements and reachable within seconds was priceless to our team members.

The top of the tank bag also has a MOLLE panel which allowed our team to attach one of their own existing pouches. Everything within the Hood was neatly organized and kept in place due to the bag’s removable, internal pockets.

When it came to stopping for the night after a long day of riding and shooting, the tank bag was removed from the motorcycle within fifteen seconds, further making it one of our favorite products in the line.

Reckless 80L

The final product we tried was the Reckless 80L. The fact that this luggage doesn’t require a rack and is easily mounted on just about any motorbike also means, for us as a production company, that we can use this luggage on any one of our production motorcycles, making it a very versatile piece of equipment.

The 80L capacity is spread out over three separate waterproof bags and just like the other Mosko luggage, the Reckless 80L is built to withstand any type of riding conditions. This luggage system expands and contracts in order to accommodate a wide variety of gear and it also has the beavertail feature which was super convenient for our team.

During our production in Portugal the Reckless 80L was mounted on our KTM 790 R where our second team member packed personal items such as:

  • clothing & shoes

  • toiletries

  • sleeping bag

  • tool kit

  • tire kit

  • first aid kit

Mosko Moto understands the need for such versatile and rugged equipment and they have definitely hit the mark with this product.

Our team members were beyond pleased with the products supplied by Mosko Moto and are convinced of its durability, quality and customer service.

Even though our team members stayed in hotels for the duration of the two weeks, they did ride off-road and off of the beaten path. Their days consisted of riding, scouting, shooting, data ingestion and as much editing as possible. For fourteen days the luggage was packed and repacked, the motorcycles were dropped and then dropped again, allowing our team to give Mosko Moto a true to life test. With all of these daily tasks, there is no time to spare worrying about the integrity of our gear. That is why we are confident that Mosko Moto soft luggage systems are now perfectly designed for production crews as well!

The attention to rider details in the design and specially developed materials working flawlessly together for its intended purpose, is what makes the products from Mosko Moto so impressive. Products designed by riders for riders is what propels this product straight to the top among our crew and countless other riders who have discovered their quality products.
